Legendary Foods Africa
MotherFood is investing $75,000 CAD in Legendary Foods Africa, a company that has seen remarkable growth through nutritious products like SANTAY shito sauces and AKO energy cookies.
“Legendary Foods was founded to provide the nutritional benefits of meat at the price and sustainability of plants. This investment will help propel our ambitious expansion plans across Ghana and the rest of Africa,” said Shobhita Soor, Founder and CEO of Legendary Foods.
“This aligns perfectly with our mission to support female entrepreneurs addressing maternal and child malnutrition,” added Chris Emergui, Global Partnerships at MotherFood. “We are excited to bring our expertise to this important work. We truly admire the team Shobhita has built and believe the African market is ready for innovative growth.”
In addition to financial support, MotherFood will help further fortify Legendary’s product line with the aim of providing more nutrients targeted to prevent malnutrition and will provide marketing and technical guidance where needed.
MotherFood is committed to tackling maternal and child malnutrition globally. By partnering with existing food manufacturers, they scale up operations and fortify products to enhance nutritional impact.
Based in Ghana, Legendary Foods is a food tech venture on a mission to ensure protein and nutrition is accessible, sustainable and contributes to local value chain creation. Through palm larvae insect agriculture, they address the scarcity and cost of protein—a macronutrient that is expensive and is traditionally the most environmentally resource-intensive.
