Our partnership in Jordan continues to grow!

In 2019, MotherFood International partnered with MEDA to bring financial opportunities to women in the Jordan Valley. Our collaboration connected us to Ms. Eng. Lubna Al-Kayed, a dynamic and pioneering entrepreneur that saw the opportunity to empower women in her community. Applying the MotherFood International Micro-Factory model, the partnership provided food manufacturing and business training to women, and the design, production and launch of an affordable and great-tasting fortified date bar tailored to the nutritional needs of women.

Over the last 3 years MotherFood International has continued to provide technical assistance as Lubna has grown Bint Beladi with 25 women. Today the partnership offers date-based health bars in five flavors, exploring different sales channels, and estimating an annual production of one million bars for 2022.

Recently, MotherFood International sponsored Lubna to attend the III Jordan International Date Palm Festival, a food innovation event that took place in Amman where Bint Beladi received 1st prize, a financial contribution and signed a partnership agreement with the Date Association. Hear from Lubna on the video below about her reflections on Bint Beladi’'s journey and her commitment to harness a business approach and women's empowerment to scale-up access to nutrition for women by women in the Middle East region. Lubna and her team's success is a springboard for expansion to neighboring countries with Lubna as our Master Trainer.
