Where we work
While we got our start by supporting product development in Colombia, we have quickly expanded to new markets and continue to grow, sharing lessons across regions. In our first three years of operation, we have invested in the capacity of women entrepreneurs, and established food manufacturers alike, to grow their businesses in the food sector and meet their commitments to improved and affordable nutrition. Whether creating opportunities and scaling in urban markets or innovating around our microfactory model in rural and refugee settings, we are currently providing support to product formulation and packaging, acceptability testing, business planning and go-to-market strategies in Colombia, Ghana, Jordan, and Kenya. A key ingredient of the MotherFood International recipe for success is the strength of our relationships with our trusted partners who are the drivers of impact in countries of focus. These growing local businesses ensure that the nutritious products we develop together are rooted in the richness of cultures and respond to the unique consumer preferences and economic contexts of these markets.
In some countries, like Jordan, our partners are working together to create synergies around production and distribution models that link the strengths of local ingredient suppliers, established food processors, women entrepreneurs in the Jordan Valley with women-self help groups in refugee settings. Through our microfactory model, we tailor the needs of women refugees and vulnerable Jordanian women in terms of livelihoods, nutrition, and health. We support the UN's and the Government of Jordan’s efforts to provide durable solutions to poverty and malnutrition through entrepreneurship. MotherFood International brings a solution for income generation that gives entrepreneur women an opportunity for financial independence and business ownership, so they can become self-reliant even in remote areas.
