New study shows the impact of maternal micronutrient supplementation on reduced risk of non-communicable diseases later in offsprings' lives
This is the first study to quantify the intergenerational impact of prenatal supplementation on NCDs in adulthood.
(…) A daily dose of 15 vitamins and minerals had the greatest impact on NCD prevention. The study found that, at 90% coverage across the countries surveyed, multiple micronutrient supplementation could prevent 3 million cases of diabetes, 6 million cases of hypertension, and delay 50 thousand NCD-related deaths.
